[Show comments] [Show snapshots] [Show videos] [Show content] [Replace file] DarkPlaces AROS port The highlights of this version are: - Built from the stable Xonotic branch (fixes the UI problems in Xonotic). - Working HTTP downloads for maps/skins/etc. This brings fast downloads compared to using the slow netchan to get the files from the server (built with the latest libCURL). - A couple of bugs fixed, no more lingering NULL function pointers. DarkPlaces is an advanced QuakeWorld client, which has some high profile mods like Nexuiz, or its fork Xonotic. To play these mods you can specify their name as a command line argument, or simply rename the executable. You can also use the GAME tooltype of the icon. For example if you want to play Nexuiz, you can start the game from the shell with the following command: darkplaces-sdl -nexuiz Or you can make a copy of the executable, and rename it to nexuiz-sdl. If you start the game from the shell don't forget to give it some stack. Darkplaces comes with an experimental software rasterizer. This means if you are stuck with VESA, but you have a powerful SSE2 capable CPU, you can still play Darkplaces. To use it type the following commands to the console: vid_soft 1 vid_restart If you want to disable it, type: vid_soft 0 vid_restart Don't expect high framerates, but Quake should be playable with fast CPU's in lower resolutions.
